Next up: Next week I’m heading to the desert in California!
While every October I usually do portfolio reviews for the Palm Springs Photo Festival (PSPF) during Photo Plus Expo in New York, next, I week I am returning to Palm Springs, CA to attend PSPF’s week-long festival May 6-May 10th in Palm Springs, CA to do portfolio reviews there. (I can tell you I am SO ready to get out of what has been a very long and dreary Chicago winter!)
I’m part of the portfolio review team which is comprised of dozens of other reviewers who can further a photographer’s career. Art directors, art buyers, photo editors, gallery directors and other consultants will be doing reviews Monday through Thursday. All of my review sessions are already booked up (as they are for most of the other reviewers). However, a few spots still remain with some reviewers.
I encourage any photographer who’s never attended PSPF in the desert to try to go as there are so many great seminars, symposiums, slide shows, and, most importantly, the face-to-face networking events–all in the relaxed setting of the beautiful Palm Springs location. It can’t be beat.
On the evening of April 25, 2018, I will be presenting my latest talk: How to Get your Head Together to Get Ahead in Business: Marketing and Mindfulness at Columbia College.
Those who’ve managed their “Inner Game” are more likely to achieve success in any career niche. Leaders in both business and the arts know the benefits of increased calm and focus. We all can use that! But an increase in creativity is yet another result artists can enjoy from a mindfulness practice.
In this new seminar, I’ll be showing you the why and the how. You’ll learn which industry leaders are already using mindfulness tools to stay at the top of their game and I’ll show you how you can, too.
Consider this “Inner Game” challenge: When you regularly are seeing other people’s highly-curated life on Instagram– combined with the inevitable stress of living in the modern age–you end up with too many opportunities for self-doubt and discouragement. How easy is it to create and market your work when you have a cloud of doubt hanging over your head? Mindfulness tools can break that cloud. You get you back to being more calm, present and creative and play your best “Inner Game.”
I will also be sharing some effective marketing strategies and tools. You need to have a good game plan when it comes to actually doing the nitty-gritty of marketing your creativity. You have to know how to reach just the right prospects to hire you. When you come to this event, I’ll show you some tips about both mindfulness and marketing.
This event is being graciously sponsored by the C3: The Chicago Creative Coalition, APA Chicago, and ASMP Midwest and Columbia College.
More information and registration links are HERE.
Seating is limited. Registration has been filling quickly.
Next week I head back to one of my favorite cities to see photographers at one of my favorite ASMP Chapters.
On April 27th I’m presenting an all-new new photo business talk to the ASMP Minneapolis chapter. It’s all about how getting your head together can help you get ahead in business.
Event details are on this blog post.
Registration details will be in the ASMP MSP site soon.
Next week I head to Texas. I’ve been invited by the Houston chapter of the ASMP to present a seminar, workshop, and private consulting sessions in Houston, TX Jan. 29-Jan. 31, 2015.
I’ll be presenting an all-new version of my “ReBooting Your Business Brain” photo marketing talk at TexCam in Houston.
Both the seminar and the workshops will focus on the business of photography and what photographers need to do to attract new clients in the 21st century. I’ve presented this talk at various other photo trade organizations over the last 6 years and am always updating it to reflect the fast-moving world of photo marketing. But this will be my first half-day workshop which will go deeper into the materials presented in the evening seminar.
More information and registration links are on the ASMP Houston site. Go here.
It’s that time of year again: I’m heading to New York City to attend Photo Plus Expo at the end of October 2014. Bonus: this year the convention will be over Halloween weekend–one of the most visually interesting places on earth to be on Halloween is NYC!
More info is on my BLOG page.
This month, I’ll be once again doing many portfolio reviews at PhotoPlusExpo in NYC Oct. 24-26th.
You can find me doing free portfolio reviews for members at the ASMP booth as well as providing portfolio reviews for the Palm Springs Photo Festival in PhotoPlus. Note: The Palm Springs sessions are already fully booked for all reviewers but their wait list opens on Oct 15th.
I’ll also be reviewing at one other location–to be revealed closer to show time. Hope to see you there!
Today, June 12, 2012 from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm several art buyers from top Chicago ad agencies, along with yours truly, will be editing photographers portfolios at APA Midwest’s Digital Portfolio Review .
I’m looking forward to meeting some new Chicago-area commercial photographers and seeing some great images. It’s always a treat to be blown away by someone’s work who I’ve never met or heard of. Happens every time. Wonder who it will be tonight?
It’s being held at Digital Bootcamp/Portfolio Annex, 25 W. Hubbard, Chicago IL 60654.
More info about tonight’s event is on the APA Midwest’s website.
SOME PREVIOUS EVENTS:
It’s that time of year again. Time for Photo Plus Expo which is the huge annual photography trade show being held in NYC Oct. 27 through Oct. 29th, 2011 at the Javits Center. And, once again, I’ll be doing free portfolio reviews for ASMP at their booth #1276.
My sessions will be on Thurs. afternoon, Oct. 27th, 2011.
You can sign up for a session here. If all my session times are booked up, just shoot me an email with “PPE portfolio review” as the Subject line, and I’ll see if I can fit you in while I’m there.
Sometimes, we reviewers have no-shows e.g., when a photographer forgets when their appointment is because they’re all engrossed at an exhibitor booth seeing some cool new camera gear 😉 So I’d like to make sure anyone who wants a review can fill in if there’s a no show.
I may also be doing reviews at another location during PhotoPlus and will do a blog post about that opportunity by Oct. 14th with more details.
